This may end up being a non-issue. Enough additional stock of the AP2502 has been located, and it should be fine for getting through more rounds of prototyping.
There are enough AP2502 parts in the bin to get through the rest of prototyping, and a longer-lead order has been placed for manufacturing quantities. As such, closing this issue.
The current design uses two AP2502KTR-G1 ICs to drive the LEDs. While this chip does work fine, it currently is in short supply from all the usual distributors. As such, it may be necessary to switch to a different driver with similar capabilities.
One option appears to be the MIC2841A which has similar specs. The package is smaller/different, however, so it is not a drop-in replacement.
Another option is to stick with the AP2502, scrounging off prototypes, until stock returns.
