Crimson Text italic rendering badly in IE8 (and maybe below) #74

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add the Crimson Text font to my site: <link
href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Crimson+Text:400,400italic,700,700i
talic' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
2. Add a div to my page, add some copy, float it left and style it italic.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In OSX 10.6.8 Chrome (current version) + FF6 render the italic correctly (but
not the bold italic, which is two pixels lower, will open separate issue). IE8
running on XP in a virtualbox doesn't render the font correctly (or at all?).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
See above.

Please provide any additional information below.
IE8 does seem to render the normal version of the font correctly. Have attached
a screen shot - the text in the yellow box is as explained above. The pink box
is the normal style font (which is displaying correctly). The top half is
Chrome, the bottom IE8.

I guess this is probably the same as issue #9 (which I am also suffering from)
