Fix rendering of bullet lists in README #117

The bullet lists in README.md were not using valid Markdown syntax and were not rendering correctly when viewing the document on Github. This commit corrects this and few other issues in the Markdown syntax:

Make bullet lists render correctly
Use Markdown syntax for section headings
Use Markdown syntax for document links
