Goal of this PR is to make the existing text easier to read, and add some small stuff which I had to think of.

Just a few small edits, some look a bit larger, because I broke up long paragraphs or so.

Thanks for your work! I have to say, though, that I find it hard to review this and to discuss its details, because the changes are quite many.

For now I'll pick specific changes from your branch using another diff tool. Hope you're ok with that? If you think something important is missing afterwards, let's talk!

Could you please next time:

• not break lines for the sake of it (it adds a lot of diff-noise),
• commit changes in smaller pieces (e.g. per paragraph)
• post PRs in smaller parts (e.g. per file).

That would make the changes easier to read and to handle!

@Simon-Laux I explained that in my comment. This PR was following up to a conversation I had with @lefherz, and the constructive suggestions influenced what I pushed into the master since then.

If you are unhappy with specific content please open an issue about it, and let's talk. But let's please don't use PRs for text work too much, they are not a good tool for content-related changes in my and lefherz's eyes (whose undertaking these pages currently are).
