Merge of Ajt's LU project #1219

There are some work made by Ajt for Lu-branche. This ticket aim to merge modification from Ajt's project where he use lu with seagull.

[Arius] [2499] good, but, Ajt can you verify that's good, before change the ticket to "resolve" ?
