What would you expect to get out of a talk with this title and abstract? Did you feel like this outline delivered on that?
My goal is to show people that the principles of computer programming have existed for a long time in the realm of the fibre arts

and get people thinking about other unlikely places where "computer programs" can exist!
I'm not sure I got this from the text alone. I think because the talk is so focused on fibre arts, it didn't really occur to me to take a step back and think about the similarities in a slightly more abstract way (until reviewing the abstract). So, I would suggest that someone like me maybe needs a little more hand-holding to read between the lines better (might just be me!).
Although, I can see how this might become more apparent when the section on history is filled out. I guess the emergence of computer programming and textile programming were responses to similar problems in their respective domains?
Any other thoughts?

In fibre arts, you point out that both the ability to be the programmer (designing the pattern) and the computer (knitting/crochet/etc), even though the weaving can already be done by machines (and, for certain types of fibres, generally is). I wonder what the analogue of choosing to do this by hand is in computing? Artisanal programming? Manually flipping bits? I have no idea (& it's probably not relevant for the talk), but this was fun for me to think about
I think discussion of side-projects and programming-as-a-hobby is often inflected with this idea that it could become a start-up or business or something. Whereas for fibre arts, I think most people are doing it for themselves (even if they have goals within their hobby). I guess it's extremely cliché at this point, but it's nice to be reminded that you can just do these things (programming/crochet) for fun, because you like them

A couple of years ago there was a spate of coverage around AI-for-knitting-pattern-generation (1, 2). Again, maybe not super relevant for this talk, but a fun and weird and topical tangent imo
