Perhaps looking into how https://testpilot.firefox.com/experiments/snooze-tabs is doing it. Snoozed tab are not taking any resources. Say that, snooze is not keeping the state of the tab. I think we should be able to freeze the tab but keep the state.
@gagarine Thanks for letting me know about it but that's not the same and it's still very green IMO.
Hope this helps. My tabs do that already on restore group, and they stay "unloaded" if this is what you are after. It works very reliably for some time now and with original native tab groups function also. These are my two most critical extensions. Using: BarTab Heavy https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bartab-heavy/
@bigegodesign I already use that but suspending/unloading the tabs still uses memory the feature I requested does not. I requested it since an other add-on simmilar to this one does that the tabs are like kept on a list or something which is like they do not exist until you restore that tab group which opens them again but I prefer using this add-on,
BTW if you use bartab heavy I would recommend you to check auto unload tab add-on. In my opinion works much better as I haven't found any problems with it (with bar tab heavy I had) and is updated when needed and has a lot more features https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-unload-tab/
Could you add a feature to "hibernate" groups or something like that so all the tabs on the hibernated groups would be closed but when you click on the group it would be like you restored those tabs like you restore a session (please do it like so if you implement it instead of re loading all the tabs else the time and resources it may take would be huge if you have many tabs which I do).
