Manipulative Appendages #20

Migrated from original mech wiki:

APPENDAGES THAT ALLOW THE SPACESHIP TO INTERACT WITH ITS SURROUNDINGS SPACESHIPANICALLY

Spaceships have varied design and function, but on the whole most spaceships use some kind of appendage to allow spaceshipanical interaction with their environment. Depending on the type of appendage, spaceships may be able to remove obstructions, create pathways through obstructions, and cause obstructions of their own. Increasing spaceshipanical power of the appendages allows increased destruction potential, as well as increased utility in tight spots. Some humanoid spaceships can even use their appendages to pick up weapons off fallen opponents and use them to their advantage.

Different types of spaceships requires different types of utility in their manipulative appendages. Some spaceships seek to replicate the design of human bodies, and use their appendages for similar reasons as humans, only on a much larger scale. Other spaceships require appendages to be more lithe and precise than a proportionately sized humanoid appendage, and would use smaller or more flexible manipulators like tentacles. In the end, each spaceship has its own design, and it is up to the operator and/or constructor of the spaceship as to what style is most suited to him or her, and what types of appendages are required.

This is a pretty hilarious result of the find and replace s/mech/spaceship/. I think the term "spaceshipanically" is growing on me.

This seems invalid at first since spaceships don't have arms and legs, but manipulator arms or tractor beams seem in line with what this original concept was about.
