Subscribe to Google Groups using a non-Google account #72

Quick & Easy

  1. Go to the website of the Google Group you wish to join
  2. The group name is usually in the URL itself
    1. example URL: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!aboutgroup/rubyonrails-core
    2. group name: rubyonrails-core
  3. The subscription email address is usually GroupName prepended to +subscribe@googlegroups.com
    • e.g., rubyonrails-core+subscribe@googlegroups.com
  4. Send an email from the alias that you would like to subscribe to the group
  5. Respond to the confirmation email using the same alias you sent the subscription request from
  6. Done

Likely more reliable

  1. Go to about page for the URL of the Google Group that you want to join
  2. Note the 'Group email' line: rubyonrails-core@googlegroups.com
  3. Append +subscribe to the address and send an email with the subject subscribe. Here, we would send that email to rubyonrails-core+subscribe@googlegroups.com.
  4. You'll receive a mail from the group asking you to confirm your subscription. Just hit reply and send the email without modifying the subject field.
