VA Forms System Core will be a React library hosted in NPM that will allow engineers and designers to easily interact with Forms inside of vets-website.
Candidate 1
Notes from the presentation of the Review Page Round 2 Research to the Design System Council discussion about the current set of buttons on the form edit pages (Save and Continue, Back, and Next):
Look at Quickbooks/Turbotax to see what their button naming and functionality is (because research participants and Design System Council attendees both mentioned these as a model)
Consult with Design System Team about button naming.
Test with our current button set v alternative button set(s)
Potential alternative button sets:
Just Save and return
Save and return and some sort of cancel (if you don’t make changes)
Matt (8/22 Design + Content + Research Sync call): Remove the Continue button altogether.
Discussion came from these research findings: "Though nearly all Veterans understood how to save a change and return to the Review Page without explanation, nearly half of them expressed confusion or uncertainty regarding the meaning of the Save & Continue, Back, and Continue buttons."
Matt's input, from the 8/23/22 PO Sync call:
We’re headed in the right direction, the next round of user research should test a different button configuration and labels.
We may have missed the feedback that the Save and Continue button should have replaced the Continue button for the second round of research (we just did a rename of that button).
May want to change the Back button to be a link, because it’s navigation.
There has been a longstanding desire to move the Back link to the top of the page, may want to look at that as well.
Candidate 2
From the 8/15/22 walkthrough session with Robin Garrison full notes page: Look at the 526 form pattern Robin described around the PTSD sub form:
On the 526 form issues page, if you add PTSD there is a whole subform that needs to be filled out.
Concerned about seeing a “wall of errors” when you submit.
Go back to the Review Page button should only appear if the data is valid.
Would hope to not have this problem in 526 going forward.
