Description

Google Search Console helps monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot site's presence in Google Search results. As a product team focused on enhancing our offsite search presents and veterans ability to find VA content using Google we would like to better understand what Google Search Console can tell us.

Tasks

• [ ] Read more information about Search Console with the goal to better understand the information that can be found and leveraged
• [ ] Identify (if applicable) further audit or analysis that should take place to improve VA.gov's presence in Google Search Results
• [ ] Identify (if applicable) next steps/opportunities to improve VA.gov's google search results presence (eg. Google Rich Results or other features we may choose to explore to enhance the veteran experience.
• [ ] Capture any identified improvements that should be added to backlog
• [ ] Examine GSC Index Report - The report in short: Submitted URL seems to be a Soft 404: You submitted this page for indexing, but the server returned what seems to be a soft 404. Learn how to fix this. https://www.va.gov/resources/find-apps-you-can-use/
• [ ] determine what (if anything) we need to "action" from the index report
• [ ] Potential sync with Sam and Kelson to fully diagnose

Definition of Done

• [ ] Search & Discovery team (specifically PO, PM & Dev) have a clear understanding of Google Search Console capabilities and available insights.
• [ ] backlog items have been added if identified

These efforts were deprioritized and will be shifted to ready in order to be picked up when time allows

This has been de-prioritized to make room for two launch blocking issues (and supporting tickets) coming out of the staging review for UI Consistency for Global Search #26335 and #26416. Pick this up in the next sprint.

This is a low priority item which continues to be bumped by higher priority items. Moving to ready until we have some time to pick it up again.
