Content feedback for STEM denial staging review is below:

SHOULD

STEM application:

  1. QUESTION: Will denied applicants receive a letter and an email? If so, I recommend replacing "or" with "and" rewriting the sentence under "Decision" subhead to the following to be active voice, more succinct, and PL:

If we don’t approve your application, we’ll notify you by mail and email.

  1. Recommend the following tweaks to this alert to make it more plain language and active voice (va.gov/education/other-va-education-benefits/stem-scholarship/apply-for-scholarship-form-22-10203/benefits/confirm-eligibility)

Your remaining education benefits Our system shows that you have more than 6 months of education benefits remaining. You should apply for the STEM Scholarship when you have less than 6 months of entitlement left.

You have 30 months, 14 days left to use your education benefits

  1. We made some content update to the DD page to address accessibility concerns with just presenting a check image. (va.gov/education/other-va-education-benefits/stem-scholarship/apply-for-scholarship-form-22-10203/personal-information/direct-deposit) Please sync with VSA Auth exp team on how they are presenting the DD page.

My content recommendation to explain where users can find account number, routing number, and check number so they aren't relying only on the visual are here: https://github.com/department-of-veterans-affairs/va.gov-team/issues/19611

Claim status tool:

  1. I still think there is too much content on this page and will be overwhelming to users and will require them to work harder to understand what we’re saying. This can result in too much cognitive load for user with reading or learning disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, PTSD, or ADD/ADHD.

Could we remove the sub bullets under the subhead "You met these criteria for the Rogers STEM Scholarship" as they repeat some of the information in the primary bullets above them? (see screenshot/content in red boxes )

There would need to be some rewriting of the primary bullets if sub bullets are removed to ensure pertinent info is all captured.

  1. "Need help" right rail

Spacing looks off on the right rail

Please use sentence casing for labels/subheads, per style guide

Please fix formatting of TTY. Our standard should be: If you have hearing loss, call TTY: 711[hyperlink}

@peggygannon Wanted to give you a heads up about https://github.com/department-of-veterans-affairs/va.gov-team/issues/20527 for TTY language. Meli and I had been discussing the prompt "If you have hearing loss, call TTY: 711[link]" and if it might be more inclusive to say "If you are deaf/hard-of-hearing, call TTY: 711[link]". I added us to that ticket with Danielle and Meli so we've got consistent handling for mobile, landing pages, and detail views like this one.
