@lillianjwarner - basic info for you to start from. since these are lower-level pages, we won't worry too much about seo (still need meta description), but will send you a little info on that if anything comes up of value. thanks!
We won't be including images on our pages, so we're thinking that basically, we'll describe the different things you can choose (types, inscriptions, and emblems) and then link to pdfs.
this pdf shows images of headstones, markets, medallions: https://www.cem.va.gov/cem/docs/factsheets/HeadstoneMarkerMedallion_Brochure.pdf. there's also a medallion fact sheet linked to from the types page I believe.
To note for record: We need to connect with SMEs on making sure PDFs are/are made 508 compliant.
Under "#### Can I request an emblem of belief that isn't included on the official list?", I havef some questions:
Under step "#### Certify that the emblem of belief you request represents the Veteran's religious or other beliefs" I'm wondering if we know how we can be more precise? How will someone "make sure" or "certify" information like this?
What other information should be submitted with an emblem of belief exception? (Under " #### Submit an image of the emblem of belief"
**2. Replacements"
Check accuracy with SMEs on this rewritten question: "## Will the replacement headstone or marker be the same style as the original?
Yes. If we replace a historic (greater than 50 years old) headstone or marker, we'll provide an item that has the same type and style as the original (sometimes called "replacing in kind")."
Original page only described replacing a historic marker "in kind" that has an inaccuracy but I'm assuming that it could extend to this bigger picture question written above?
@DanielleSoCompany hi danielle! wondering if you have any thoughts on the IA of they "Types, inscriptions" page--something doesn't feel quite right about it yet. putting this message on this ticket (we slacked about it) for our records.
Can a Confederate Veteran have only a Confederate inscription style, or can they choose between a Union inscription or a Confederate inscription? Original text is unclear. For first draft, went with assumption that they can only have a Confederate inscription style.
I can't find a PDF with an example of what pre-World War I headstones/markers look like. Do we know where we can find that?
How can a Veteran or Next of Kin authorize someone else to request a memorial item?
Update: I did a high-level edit on /types-inscriptions-emblems/ and /replacements/. Both will require another edit, then copyedit, then to stakeholders for review.

We're creating 3 subpages beneath HMM:
1: Selecting types, inscriptions, emblems /types-inscriptions-emblems/
This will combine these pages:

2: Replacement headstones and markers /replacements/ rewrite of: https://www.cem.va.gov/cem/hmm/replacements.asp
3: Pre-WWWI /pre-world-war-i/ rewrite of: https://www.cem.va.gov/cem/hmm/pre_WWI_era.asp
