Moving into ice box until we have results from testing of a direction to move forward with.
Update: alert box pattern will be similar to the other VA.gov Health pages, however both Columbus and Spokane patients will be directed to Cerner, and everyone else will be directed to VAOS (rather than MHV). cc @bridgethapner
I have implemented the alert box style on this page, and the wireframe is here. This alert points to Cerner and VAOS.
Next Steps: In 3/17 check-in with @peggygannon, review alert box content as part of our review of how the VAOS + SSO work intersects.
@bridgethapner Please see below for content recommendations for this alert. Let's review this at our sync tomorrow to see if more trimming is needed? I'd would like to take another look with the updated copy.
View, schedule, or cancel a VA appointment online {begin alert box} Our records show that you’re registered at Chalmers P. Wylie Ambulatory Care Center. Starting April xx, 2020, providers at this center are using My VA Health to manage appointments You may need to sign in again to use VA health appointment tools. If you do, sign in with the same account you used to sign in on VA.gov. You may need to disable your browser’s pop-up block so these tools can open.
Manage appointments with a Chalmers P. Wylie provider {button} Go to My VA Health Manage appointments at all other VA medical centers {button} Go to VA appointments {end alert box}
Thank you @peggygannon! This is hugely helpful and I appreciate how much you streamlined the copy of the first 2 paragraphs.
Regarding the CTAs: we heard in testing that users are essentially scanning the page to find the right button & buttons with an action item like "Schedule" or "Message" tested more positively than "Go to [tool name]". That being said, I worry about how long these CTAs can get depending on the action (e.g. "Manage Prescriptions on My VA Health"), so I'm not sure it will work. Do you think there is a way for buttons to be task-based and stay streamlined?
TBQH I personally don't mind "Go to [tool name]" - I like that it's short, to the point, and I think the CTA headlines being task-based gives the button context. But I do want to pass along that users seemed to be scanning the page so quickly that task-based buttons could be a value add.
ok, @bridgethapner thank you for that feedback. We currently are using that language on the Scheduling page CTAs Go to My HealtheVet Go to VA appointments tools
so that is why I recommended it here.
The only thing with using "Schedule" and "Message" is that those won't translate when we put these alerts on the other health care pages (lab results, prescriptions, medical records, etc), so I'm trying to create consistent CTA language across these pages.
also, I'm going to check with a FE dev to see if there is any requirements on these react alerts. In the past, I know that we've had to use consistent messages on alerts that will be shared across pages. Let me see what I can find out before our meeting tomorrow.
@hinzed1127 This alert is ready to go!
A couple of design notes:
Here is the copy:
You may need to sign in again to use VA health appointment tools. If you do, sign in with the same account you used to sign in on VA.gov. You may need to disable your browser’s pop-up block so these tools can open.
Manage appointments with a Chalmers P. Wylie provider [Go to My VA Health]
Manage appointments at all other VA medical centers [Go to VA appointments]
Per this thread in DSVA Slack, we will need 2 versions of the alert box:
Cerner + VAOS, a Veteran would see this if they are registered at Columbus and are part of the VAOS rollout.
User Story When a Veteran who is a patient at a Cerner facility but who is also a patient at non-Cerner facilities is logged in on VA.gov and is on the Scheduling page (https://www.va.gov/health-care/schedule-view-va-appointments/), the alert box should explain to users that they will be directed to the appropriate page on both My VA Health and MHV (or, once launched, VAOS).
