Copyedit for 2023 audit: Evidence needed for your disability claim

Issue Description

For the rolling audit of all the pages in the disability hub, OCTO content lead assessed these content issues on the Evidence needed for your disability claim page and made changes that need copyediting before we republish the page:

• The intro paragraph has no more than 2 to 4 sentences, is within 200 to 400 characters with spaces, and follows our pattern and style for intros (short sentences, paragraph ends with a CTA, etc.). Note: I rewrote this.
• Relevant terms from page are in content brief and any relevant backlog work is noted
• The blue box had non-eligibility info and the content there was duplicative of text in the "Type of claim" accordions, so I deleted the blue box and the text that was in it. There's no need for a blue box on this page about evidence.

Copyeditor will check these in addition to copyediting the above-mentioned edits:

• Header levels are hierarchical
• The page has no broken links
• Text links have purpose and target
• The content is free of ability-focused language (view, walk, see, hear) Note: We allow "show" and "appear" when talking about evidence related to disability compensation.
• Flesch-Kincaid before and after grade level

Copyeditor will ask SME if he agrees with removing this blue box content that's currently on the live site since it repeats information that's in the accordion text:

What evidence does VA need to support my disability claim?

We need evidence that shows that both of these descriptions are true:

• You have a current physical or mental disability (damage to your body or mind that makes you less able—or totally unable—to do everyday tasks, including meaningful work), and

• An event, injury, or illness happened while you were serving in the military to cause this disability

Update: We sent this to the new SME and he submitted feedback 12/7. Next steps are to work with Beth to incorporate.
