1 year ago Adding updates here for everyone's awareness:
We published all the changes discussed above on 8/14 and 8/15. However we made some changes to the content on the banners and put a separate banner with fewer links on the Eligibility for VA health care page since the banner on the PACT Act page links to that page. Adam approved all content in Teams chats.
We suggested further changes to make the content more plain language, and Adam is still working on edits to it. He gave us more tweaks on 8/18 that we need to implement.
Stories
As a Veteran or survivor, I need to understand 2 things after the 8/14 extension expires:
As a post-9/11 Veteran who separated before October 2013, I also need to know that there is another deadline for health care enrollment coming up in September.
Priority updates after extended deadline ends at 11:59 p.m. ET Monday, August 14
[x] Revert the intent to file page to the 05/25/2023 version.
[x] Update these 2 single Q&As on the PACT Act page:
[x] Archive PACT Act full-width alert This will trigger a publish
[x] NEW: Create full-width banner for va.gov/pact until 9AM with content from word doc. (Add node) This will trigger a publish
[x] 'Unpublish' global VAMC PACT Act banner (https://prod.cms.va.gov/vamc-facilities/vamc-banner-alert/2023-08-10/pact-act-backdated-benefits-deadline-extended) (Note: this is not 'archive' per-se but there is a check-box under "Editorial Workflow" that is checked for 'published' that you uncheck) This will trigger a publish
[x] Archive Spanish-language PACT full-width alert This will trigger a publish
[x] Archive Tagalog-language PACT full-width alert This will trigger a publish
[x] Ask Jenny H-L's team to communicate to VAMCs that we've taken down the banner and that they should remove any other deadline-related information from their sites.
[x] Work with Adam on the language and placement for making it clear to people that the PACT Act itself is not going away. Language for this is in Word doc I'm sending to Adam for review and approval.
[x] Send all updated PACT Act content out to State Dept. for translation.

Note: This is not ideal because it's using banners at the request/direction of the Secretary. However I did put out there with Adam that once things have settled a bit we should in a week or two we should consider moving to design patterns that are more in alignment with our design system.

[x] Update the health care promo to read "Learn what the PACT Act may mean for you." until we have approval from Adam to update to reflect the September 30th deadline for the special health care enrollment period. Language for this is in Word doc I'm sending to Adam for review and approval.
[ ] Consider updating the beneficiary-facing spotlight on the homepage to support the targeted messaging for post-9/11 Veterans
