Launch VSP internal communication strategy #8120

Open rroueche opened 4 years ago

We don't have any dedicated spaces to celebrate progress, look at where we have room to improve, reconnect with our mission, and drive our principles and culture across the whole team. I hypothesize that since we don't spend time doing this kind of strategic update w/the full team, it's resulting in some of the middling responses we're getting in the team health survey.

We believe that interal communications is not being succesfully executed in a way that people know what success looks like from the DEPO perspective, and agree with that definition of success. This can be seen in the neutral repsonse on the team health survey, and in pain points around internal VSP communications identified in retrospectives. We will know this has improved when we have successfully improved that rating for the fourth quarter, and reduced the occurance of those themes in team retros.

...Including venues for "deep dive" talks across the team, rotating through teams to present

Goals:

Potential messages to socialize:

We also don't have a way for ppl, a week from now say, to come back and see the meeting notes etc. Like a folder or something w/longer form write-ups.

When leadership does a cross-team announcement, what are the channels, use cases, and where do we store all that?

How do we communicate deadlines?

How do we solicit feedback?

We could do a good job setting an example of how to collaborate - when do. you want the feedback w/a time, what kind of feedback do you want (looks/sounds like this), on what part of the work, and where are you in the process (just starting looking for big ideas, vs almost done want final look-through)?
