Link Strategy Follow-up: links to MHV Classic

User story

As a Cartography team member, I want to initiate next steps across teams as needed for the identified first phase of links that should be removed from the landing page* so that we make sure to speak to teams in governance of those links and collaborate on a strategic way to further improve the links.

*as of now, those are the links that go to Classic

Notes

• All links that go to Classic should and will be eventually phased out, so these are highest priority Phase 1 links to be strategized around
• The GA4 stats about number of sessions for each link is good to know for us internally, but we need more compelling reasons/respective teams' input before removing them completely, and those collabs will inform our strategy + ability to implement the recommendations
• We recognize this might move sort of slowly as we find out which teams to talk to per resource link + decide to replace content or completely remove, so this ticket might roll over a few sprints as we chip away at it
• Analysis google sheet (sorry)
• Mural adaptation (with OCTO comments)

Possible tasks:

• Identify which links to Classic will be in our first phase (table, mural or spreadsheet), based on traffic and stakeholder input (see mural)
• Add screenshots to Mural so we can understand value etc. – e.g., what does a Veteran Health Info Card look like? (Lauren thinks important, wants discussion of implementing on VA.gov)
  • Include the UIs for the Veteran Health Info Card – we learned from an email with the MHV analytics team that there is an edit screen (eg this link) as well as a view screen
• Review past research studies to see what is already known about Veteran perceptions of links (see discussion)
• Find out who to talk and which teams need to be involved regarding the set Phase 1 links
• Start reaching out and collaborating on their thoughts (maybe we share our stats and analysis with them? they may have totally different perspectives we don't know about too)

Acceptance criteria

Team ACs post-refinement:

• Internal team input
• Have approval on all sides to move forward with Phase 1 links
• Kaitlin approval
• Ticket next steps and/or implementation

Wes suggested ACs:

• [ ] Migrated analysis spreadsheet to a platform that's accessible from the VA network
• [ ] Identified a small group of links to Classic that should be prioritized for discussion and documented in detail in Mural, including any relevant research findings
• [ ] Identified points of contact/stakeholders for each
• [ ] Made initial contact with stakeholders
• [ ] Ticketed next steps for each item as appropriate

Learned in S42 planning that we collided with another project (led by Kaitlin) to assess all MHV Classic content for migration. Waiting to hear from Kaitlin on her guidance for what on the national portal still needs to come over to VA.gov. This will inform strategy around these links moving forward.
