Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Facing Services (VFS) team!

As a new VFS team member, you will be working in the web ecosystem we call the VA.gov Platform (or "The Platform," for short). The tasks on this list are designed to get you up to speed on the role of Platform, making it easier for you to do your job.

Because the VA is a huge organization that serves millions, the Platform it runs on is equally big, complex, and multilayered. Most people find that even learning the basics for their own practice area entails a significant learning curve. The tasks on this checklist will help you acquire those basics as quickly and efficiently as possible.

As a new VFS team member, I need to complete onboarding activities so I can successfully work on my project and support the VA.gov Platform.

@mayacarrolluxa6 it does not appear that you are part of the VA GitHub organization so I am unable to add you to Atlas or vets.gov-write.

I am going to remove the platform-tech-team-support label please re-add that label and ping me when you've been added and I will complete the platform checklist.

Happy Monday! Thanks for letting me know about the issues with my access to the VA GitHub account. I’m looping in my delivery manager, Sarah Knopp, for support in troubleshooting this issue.

Do you have any suggestions for the steps I need to take to be added to the VA GitHub? I just got access to my VA email and SAC adjudication last Friday.

Hi Anneliese and Sarah,

Sarah is out sick today, so I am looping in Anneliese for support in troubleshooting my access to VA GitHub.

After submitting my VFS New Team Member Template, I received a message from David Petras notifying me of an issue:

“It does not appear that you are part of the VA GitHub organization, so I am unable to add you to Atlas or vets.gov-write. I am going to remove the platform-tech-team-support label. Please re-add that label and ping me when you’ve been added, and I will complete the platform checklist.”

Do you have any suggestions for what steps I should take to troubleshoot?

@mayacarrolluxa6 here is some information you may find helpful. Your Program Manager will need to submit the ticket to get you added to the VA Github org.
