Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Facing Services (VFS) team!

As a new VFS team member, you will be working in the web ecosystem we call the VA.gov Platform (or "The Platform," for short). The tasks on this list are designed to get you up to speed on the role of Platform, making it easier for you to do your job.

Because the VA is a huge organization that serves millions, the Platform it runs on is equally big, complex, and multilayered. Most people find that even learning the basics for their own practice area entails a significant learning curve. The tasks on this checklist will help you acquire those basics as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Hey @shiragoodman - I think this might have gotten accidentally redirected to Platform Analytics Board. Could you add Melissa Stern to vets.gov-write GH team and add her to the VFS Team Roster?

@AnneCostello looks like this ticket was opened from a bookmarked issue template. The labels applied are very out of date. When creating new issue tickets for Platform action, please either go to Platform Website (in this case, the Platform Orientation page) or to New Issues in the appropriate repo (this is under va.gov-team). GH is funky and populates urls based on the labels applied, so if you bookmark it, it'll always populate with the labels, assignees, ticket title, etc. that were in place at the time you bookmarked it. Platform has since changed the labels for the New VFS Team member ticket (no longer called Platform Orientation template). I'll add the new labels so that the appropriate teams are informed.
