Propose inter-portal IA comms plan

User story

As a Cartography team member, I want to get VA.gov and MHV Classic teams aligned on the problem of IA coordination and possible governance solutions, so that we can avoid future issues.

Notes

• on 9/19/24 MHV Classic pushed changes to production URLs that led to 404s in some use cases
• Impact: "Register with My HealtheVet" access alert has a URL to the unauth registration page on the national portal. This was removed from the portal without our knowledge, so the link 404's out. I believe we still need to update the link to the new registration page! (other ticket for that).
  • Related: We were surfacing "go back to the national portal" links to these users, specifically deep links to pages that require authentication. But these users cannot see those pages since they don't have LOA3 accounts with an MHV-ID. We removed the first paragraph & blue info alert containing "go back" links for these users.

Possible tasks:

• Brainstorm with Robyn how to connect with national portal team about this issue
• Might be a good topic for office hours

• Plan exists to get knowledge from national portal teams before changes go to prod
• QA review
• A11y review

Update: on 10/10 reached out to Joel Calumpong for advice per a suggestion from Robyn in team sprint planning. Joel suggested that I directly email Carnetta.

Update: posted related slack thread in our team's channel about a potentially outstanding UX issue stemming from these QA problems outlined here. These responses also point toward needing to contact Carnetta. We were holding off on contacting Carnetta & her team due to PI planning last week, but I will draft an email for her today & run it by our team before sending.
