Overview

The appointments tool on MHV Classic will be sunset January 31 2025. To prepare for this transition, the appointments team is working with MHV Portals + Access team to develop a plan for URL redirects / removal / and re-routing.

What details are necessary for understanding the specific work or request tracked by this issue?

• PoC on appointments side: Peter Russo, Kristen McConnell *PoCs on MHV Classic side: David Rawlins, Lichelle Bain

Notes

• Redirect URLs from classic to the most similar option on VA.gov

  • if scheduling, redirect to scheduling

• Need action item on list of all pages in Classic to help assist with mapping to where we want those to go

• Analyze the unauthorized appointment pages for what redirects should be (not just appointment pages but related resource pages).

  • But spotlight articles will just get a blanket redirect.

• Send any Q’s to Lichelle or Kristen McConnell

What outcome do you anticipate the fulfillment of this request to deliver?

• Adding mapping URLs to Lichelle's spreadsheet plan for all classic URLs related to appointments
• Identify any non-appointments URLs that may still convert search engine users to Classic for appointments

When does IA review need to be completed by? 11/15/2025

Acceptance Criteria

• [ ] Have analyzed URLs from email & synced with Peter Russo re: a mapping plan for appointments URLs
• [ ] Have documented preferences and sent any follow-on questions related to this effort to Kristen and/or Lichelle
• [ ] Follow-on tickets have been created as needed
