But can we really tell rain from snow, from within the terrain shader? I doubt that...

How would I know? All I know is that lighting underground is almost non-existent.

Hmm I just found that the game uses exactly the same parameters for FOG_COLOR and FOG_CONTROL on both cases. They are only parameters that could be used for detecting the state of weather. This sucks.
