Messages duplicating #467

Open ghost opened 5 years ago

ghost commented 5 years ago

As of late (maybe since two days ago) I noticed that if you don't instantly mark the message as read (e.g. by visiting Messenger and clicking on the conversation), purple-facebook will receive the same message multiple times rapidly. In some cases I've had 8 of the same message received in the span of a few seconds.

Is there any way for me to find debug information to submit?

Now it's receiving messages I send, but it's saying they're all from a conversation I'm having with myself. Same rapid-fire message duplication, but in a conversation with myself now.

This usually happens when you copy config files between computers and use the same tokens from one installation in two different places at the same time. If this is the case, delete the (pidgin/purple) account in one of them and add it again.

I've seen this sort of thing occur when using purple-facebook via spectrum2, with that being the only log-in, where the message would keep coming from time to time until I logged in via browser.

This happens to me from time to time too. No idea why. I'm also using purple-facebook via spectrum2.

This is happenning to me as well. In fact, today it sent a pair of messages twice. I'm using pidgin, and purple-facebook is built from git.

bug present in master tip of ≤2021-02-06

seems to happen when there are network issues. both sending and receiving the same messages again double, triple, or more. sometimes not delivering a sent message at all
