I really love the OpenTopoMap style and was wondering if you're willing to bring this to StreetComplete as an option.
StreetComplete uses some kind of vector maps (provided by jawg.io) which is rendered on the device. So it wouldn't cause any additional load to your server, but instead would be rendered on the device itself.
I brought this up in the StreetComplete project, as there was discussion about the map here.
