I do argue against fixing (fixing as in hard-wiring) this in the package as stated in http://tex.stackexchange.com/a/309814/37907

Would a dedicated cleanthesis option (#73) be a reasonable compromise? It does not require the abovementioned hard-wiring and uses the same mechanism as the biblatex style option (which I tend to modify both at the same time anyway).

See my commit 2a04f92ed7563d6add5e95275254a6f8383d70d0, which addresses this issue. Thanks for your help!
