RFP: Submit a proposal for a javascript d3 Visualization of Nodes #5

Open Plikt opened 1 year ago

Plikt commented 1 year ago

A research node is made up of many research components and these components are associated with others both through metadata and the infrastructure of Nodes. For researchers, as they include more components, or as external researchers attempt to navigate another researcher’s node it can be difficult to understand how the code, the preprint, the manuscript, the data, and other components might fit together and how they might access the actual material that they are looking for. We hope to mitigate this difficulty by providing a visualization that can researchers navigate the materials they have uploaded by providing them with the relevant metadata and relationships between each of the components. You can see the additional documentation and design considerations here:

One way to do this would be to use the Javascript D3 library - but we are open to other implementations as well!

OUTPUT: A visualization of the research components within a node that provides researchers a better grasp of navigating their own and other research nodes.

Hi @Plikt , I've been having a tech stack brewing that i've been wanting to try, and it may have a good place in desci nodes. Here is an illustrative example https://nodes.io/playground/data-visualisation/

Let's set up a call on Discord to talk a bit more about what you're thinking -- I'll message you.

We're excited to see polus-arcticus continue with his proposal as a potential microgrant -- it is beyond the scope of this particular RFP.

This RFP remains open for anyone interested!
