Safari 17.4 contains a regression that affects all browser extensions with content scripts on iOS and iPadOS. Registered content scripts do not automatically run in tabs when more than one site has been visited as you browse the web.
This bug causes significant issues in Search by Image: there may be errors when you try to search with an image, and nothing happens when an image is supposed to be uploaded to a search engine, though searching with an image URL still works.
The bug has been fixed by Apple in iOS 17.5 Beta 1 and iPadOS 17.5 Beta 1, and Search by Image works as expected on the latest beta OS versions.
The extension also works on iOS 17.3, so if you are still using an earlier iOS version, you should either delay updates until iOS 17.5 is released in May 2024, or update now to the latest beta version to continue using the extension.
