There are several types of backgrounds to consider:

1. Colors
2. Patterns, textures
3. Algorithmic patterns
4. External images as part of the movie
5. External images for tracing
6. Partial or layered backgrounds
7. Background scaling
8. Quicktime movie backgrounds
9. Backgrounds generated from within Drawing Board (animated backgrounds)
