sending anything causes gtalksms to go offline, then back online #45

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. send anything like "." or "blah" or "help" or even something useful like 
"sms:<someone's name>:<something>"
2. gtalksms goes offline, then gets back online
3. gtalksms does not perform the selected command or throw up an error message

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i expected a list of commands, a sent SMS, or an error that it was an invalid 
command

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.7. android 2.2 HTC incredible

Please provide any additional information below.

this didn't use to happen. gtalksms effectively no longer works on my phone

the only notification i have set as active is the "set battery state changes." 
in the application settings, i have the status notification icon checked also. 
does this answer your question?

I suspect each attempt to send will result in the:

| xmpp disconnected due to error: java.lang.NullPointerException 

log line, which is presumably the root of the problem.  Unfortunately, I'm not 
able to reliably reproduce that.

this is a new error introduced since the last update, i believe. i use this 
program almost daily and did not have issues like this in the past. i haven't 
updated any major  pieces of software either (no kernel or os changes)

What account are you using ? Jabber or GTalk ?
Meanwhile you can use 1.6.1 in download tab.

@skippy: we have to add system error log (without gtalksms tag) because xmpp 
error aren't tagged

my address to notify is my gmail account, i have 'use a different account' 
checked, and the login used by the phone is jabber. server host is jabber also. 
hope that helps
