"Here is everyone's friend code on the website" -- seems like a good way to get a bunch of spam friend requests from harvester bots.
I believe that sharing this information inside Slack is a better way to do this (shared document / note / whatever). Requiring a valid Slack user raises the bar ever so slightly.
Do bots scrape and use friend codes? I thought Nintendo was pretty locked down on that.
Good catch on that though, because ideally whatever we do here we'd do for anything else we want (Steam? Discord, etc.).
How about custom fields on a Slack profile?
We can have devanooga bot query the Slack API and PM you a list of tags when requested.
That would be a really nice solution, but we'd have to have a dedicated field for each of the platforms. Maybe we should do a poll in #video-games to see which platforms people are using.
Would it be a good idea to have a section on the #video-games channel page for friend codes and whatnot? Like Nintendo Switch codes or Steam profile links or whatever else people want to share and aren't scared of it being public? Technically anything they'd share in Slack, since Slack is public as well.
