you gotta add that file in the app folder. make firebase project with com.dsctiet.mobileapp You will find google-services.json file there

Okay, I'll do that. And will I need to recreate a dummy database for the app to work properly?

Sure, that'd help everyone. For now I've started by creating a new project in firebase.
