Offer of additional imagery sources #2

Open Firefishy opened 8 years ago

Firefishy commented 8 years ago

I run a number of imagery sites... You are welcome to use any of them.

I can also create custom urls for different tile sizes etc, as required. I can also enable WMS if required.

Tiles are generated on-demand and cached. Please set a HTTP User-Agent that describes the app if scraping.

@Firefishy awesome! Could you give a (brief) description of each of these? Then I could start a new section of the README with imagery sources and include these.

The current setup just needs a URL for 256x256 tiles, which I assume I can just infer from the linked maps?

The DigitalGlobe 'Recent' and 'Vivid' layers could be added to the Readme too: http://mapsapidocs.digitalglobe.com/docs/imagery-and-basemaps

These tiles are more detailed/complete than the DigitalGlobe scenes via Mapbox for remote regions with low population density.

It's probably understood that DG use the same infrastructure as MB and so the swap out for these tiles is straightforward.

I have updated the initial message with more detail. If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me.

We also provide high resolution multi-temporal aerial imagery datasets over Australian cities and would be interested in putting them through your system. Our API is essentially WMS/WMTS with an API key. Details here: https://metromap.freshdesk.com/solution/articles/22000029054-using-metromap-in-a-client-software-without-username-password-login

We have multi-temporal layers which may help in assessing sensitivity to misalignment due to camera orientations, seasonal differences etc.
