High CPU Usage in Windows 11 #406

Open TheAlphaLion opened 3 years ago

TheAlphaLion commented 3 years ago

In Windows 11 Release Preview 22000.194

Constantly using 11% of CPU power on 12-core AMD Ryzen 5900X. Task manager shows 4 threads are maxed out constantly from Gminer, causing high system power usage. Please check and fix, thank you!

My rig has RTX 3080, RTX 2080Ti and RX 6600 XT

Same problem with a Ryzen 5600x. High CPU usage with 25% peak, which is awkward compared to Intel 8700K which doesn't use 2% CPU. It is generating high consumption and high temperature because of this

2x RTX 3070 1X RX 590

Windows 10 is not draining, getting at 0% CPU usage.

NBMiner with the same drainage problem, I also opened a ticket with the problem there.

Just checked no issue with my AMD RX 6600 XT running by itself (<0.5% CPU usage). Problem is with the Nvidia cards, currently on the latest Windows 11 drivers 472.12

Tested old 461.40-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe <1% CPU

thanks for testing. Can confirm too that this driver works OK

stepik commented 3 years ago

466.77 works too.

close the windows gpu change button.

Seems to me it is nvidia driver issue. I have 8700K and faced the same on win10. Last good driver without the issue is 466.77. Something new got introduced after that. Weirdly, to me it only happened when I had more than 1 gpu mining. Not an issue for me as I have built a rig and moved all gpus there apart of one.

Any news on this. Tried the newest Nvidia Driver yesterday. And same unwanted behavior.

Think i might have found a fix. Try turning off gpu scheduling in windows settings.
