Hi,
Thank you for your question. There is a circuit board located under the top button panel of the device which the black, round speaker is soldered to. You have several options to mute it, ranging from easiest to most difficult. All of these will silence all of the sounds the device makes including the button beeps.
1) Place some thick, heavy foam tape, hot glue, or other similar materials over the round hole in the speaker - this will significantly reduce the volume of the speaker, but might not completely silence it (worth experimenting with).
2) Remove the speaker from the circuit board (will require soldering and desoldering equipment, unless you want to break the speaker permanently using a method of your choice)
3) Possibly, the jumper labelled J44 on the board on the top side may be responsible for the sound. I have not tested this so I can't recommend cutting it unless you have a means of reconnecting it should this be the wrong one.
The process to access the board should be doable - there are some instructions to get the unit apart on the main page. Please note that the door to the air quality sensor on the right side of the unit (when facing the front) should be opened before trying to assemble or reassemble the halves of the case. Obviously ensure the unit is unplugged (maybe leave it unplugged for a few minutes before disassembly to be safe) and you won't need to touch anything inside the white box - which is where all of the high voltage stays inside. The board in question will be held in by screws.
Hope this was helpful!
Wow, thanks so much for the quick reply and all of that helpful info! I'll post back my results if I make an attempt.
I recently did this!
I don’t recommend cutting the jumper as both speaker terminals need to be connected for the purifier to function.
I unsoldered the speaker and soldered in a jumper between the two terminals.
I also unsoldered the LED for the air quality sensor as it’s annoying hahaha…

Thanks for all the work on this guide!
Do you have any thoughts on if it's possible and how difficult it would be for an electronics novice to disable the speaker on this unit? (The loud startup/shutdown chimes are not welcome in the wee hours.) Do you have any internal photos that show the location of the speaker?
Thanks for any input.
