Removing outdated links from digital country profiles. #424

The IN DETAIL INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES component of the development data hub country profiles for donors and recipients contains several outdated data tabs in the drop down options:

Some drop down options are simply out of date because data has not been collected for a while.

Furthermore the way in which the chart is formed means that the selection of certain drop-downs leads to a statement that 'Detailed data is not available for this year' which is not entirely accurate for certain flows.

In summary it is suggested to remove the vast majority of drop-down links which are outdated or lead to this inaccurate statement. I do not believe this would compromise the quality if the visual or the information available to the viewer. This can be tested once the change has been made too. I'd advise a call to go over the links which should be removed and it can be updated here after agreement.

For future reference it is recommended that restoring the outdated data series could be looked into.

Hi @Duncan-Knox, can you list the things that should be removed. Think that is the firt step, for @edwinmp to have a list.

Needs scoping on data which could be available. Discussions on whether this would be automated or manual series. Review as to whether it is better to wait until data added or to remove links sooner.

Hi @Duncan-Knox ... Any chance you'll have time for this this sprint? If so, will add it to planning...

Hi @edwinmp I've managed to build my understanding on how the CMS was possibly working for some of these drop down options and how some (but not all) of data would have been structured which was feeding into the chart. I'll aim to have a definitive answer on the data we could add by the end of this sprint and on parts where we'd be better off with links removed. Although the process for adding the data may carry on into future sprints. Also, given the uncertainty about the country profiles, I'm wary of re-adding anything which would take a considerable amount of time.
