Setting up issue for review of the India, China, Brazil and South Africa profiles.

Hi @Duncan-Knox & @Emily-JM @epicallan, adding myself to the thread on @bill-anderson's request, most likely as a spectator just to know what is going on.

China PDF

"Gross Expenditure of concessional development cooperation, 2006 - 2015" High Priority Some figures in the PDF differ from the CVS file: (could be due to differences in rounding)

Allan:

When you sum up values from the database you get the values i have in the pdfs. Rounding off is certainly not the issue

Don't need "Years" label on the X-axis

"Multilateral Expenditure" High Priority

  1. Line appears to go across from 0.6 - like this image

Paragraph at the end of page 1 of the PDF should be at the beginning of page 2 (before the "Regional distribution of ODA-like flows" and "ODA-like flows broken down by sector" charts) image

"Regional distribution of ODA-like flows" Low priority Africa data lable "65.9" should be in white instead of black

""ODA-like flows broken down by sector" High Priority Labels in chart say "3.3 K" instead of it being in percentages, as below: image Chart appears to not match the CSV file data - it should look similar to this: image

"Recipients of ODA-like flows" Mid priority Most country names do not fully fit into the data label, for example "Cameroon", whereas, longer country names, such as, "Bolivia (Pluminatal state of) "does fit into its data label. I suggest decreasing some of the font sizes in the labels where the full country name does not fit (if this is possible)

One edit @epicallan, regarding multilateral expenditure - please do not change the units of the multilateral chart to US$ millions, please keep in billions. We'll re-edit post accordingly tomorrow. This is just in-case you catch it before we get in.

India PDF

"Trends in Development Cooperation, 2008 - 2015"

High priority

Some figures in the PDF appear to differ from the CSV file - this occurs in the following years

Allan:

I have summed up these values from the database without rounding off and I get same values as we have in the PDFs. Rounding off is not the issue. The database may have different values from those in the csv

screen shot 2018-01-12 at 15 30 44

Change units from US$ billions to US$ millions, for example, "1.3k" would become "1,300". This change should also be reflected in the Y-axis.

Low priority

Remove "Years" label from X-axis.

"Contributions to International Organisations, 2011-2015"

High Priority

Need data labels for the whole chart - overall figures and for each multilateral (in the stacked bar chart - depending on if it fits)

Mid Priority

Units on the Y-axis appear too close together, because the overall figures seem to be relatively large I suggest changing the domination from "20" to "40", so it would go 40,80,120 etc. This should increase the space between each label - making it easier to see.

Low Priority

Remove "Years" label from the X-axis

South Africa PDF

"Trends in development cooperation, 2006 - 2015"

High Priority

Chart appears to be the wrong way round. It should go from 2006 -2015 instead of 2015-2006.

"ARICF broken down by Sector type"

High Priority

Data labels in the PDF do not appear to be in %, but in the US$ millions amounts. As the chart label says "percentage" then we need to change the data labels to match this.

Also, "ARICF expenditure (total)" should be taken out of the chart. With this change the data would look like this: image

Brazil PDF

"Development Cooperation, 2011 -2013"

Low priority

Remove "Years" label from X-axis

"Technical Cooperation by region , 2011 - 2013"

High Priority

Is it possible to convert the chart to show as percent? The axis and bars are in million, but the subtitle is in percent. Duncan is happy to resubmit data as percent if it helps.

Data labels needs to be added for each region (if they fit on the stacked bar chart)

Mid priority

Units on the Y-axis appear too close together. However, this may change when you covert it to percentages.

Low Priority

Remove "Years" label on the x-axis
