Just wanted to say thanks. I've been using Minimalist Text since 2013, and it's been a wonderful tool that does exactly what it says on the tin.

I guess I'll start looking at more modern alternatives - I haven't in years, as after I got my phone set up the way I wanted back then I've just imported the same configuration of launcher(Nova) and widgets (yours) onto every new device since then. No idea what's available now :)

Hi, thanks for your comment. Great to read from a happy user. As statet in the post Minimalistic Text will not be deleted or something. It will stay in the PlayStore so you can continue to use it if you like.

I have been a MT user since the days of XDA. I can't do without because of it flexibility. It's a little gem that never let me down and it still works fine on Android 10. Danke für die wertvolle Arbeit. Mach's gut ! Peter

Thank you for a great app - was happy to buy it and use it for a year. I wonder if you'd share what other apps you consider as better alternatives. Also wondering if you would open source the app since I've had issues displaying font awesome icons on the widgets after the latest Samsung update.

Thanks again for the wonderful app and good luck with your new projects!

Hi,

I think open sourcing would be nice but would need a very huge effort on my side. The code is quite old and the apps inner workings are not so easy to understand. It is not only the app but e.g. a complete pipeline that generates the translations out of the google docs that were maintained by contributors.

To make this open source I would have to

  1. clean up the code
  2. create a dev documentation

Maybe I can find the time for that one day but till then I will be happy to fix issues that don't need a rewrite of a whole section in the app ;)

Regarding alternatives. I think the two most prominent ones are:

Honestly, with every new phone I get, I have to have your app. I have loved it from the beginning. I don't think I ever looked for a different app that did the same thing. I'm glad you created it. Cheers!
