Chronological Boot Test YS2 [1.9.0] #889

Back when Yaba Sanshiro 2: 1.9.0 released, my brother asked me to test the Saturn library in order of first release internationally to see if YS2 could reach gameplay in each title. I tested the first 87 titles.

I was testing on my phone and the screen recording would silently stop recording when the video file passed 4.5 GB so the testing process was messy as sometimes I didn't realize the recording had stopped and would have to test a range of games a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time.

All of that to say the raw footage is slightly disorganized and I've not taken the time to edit out false starts when the recording automatically stops but I have created an index to allow you to jump directly to the results.

Notable issues: 🟧 Tama: Intro graphics begin to be rendered but freeze. Also: Starfield bleeds through to Time Warner logo.

🟨 Pebble Beach Golf Links: Intro videos play correctly however actual gameplay is incomprehensible due to background graphics being drawn over the course - or the course being invisible.

🟧 EMIT Vol. 1: Toki no Maigo: Game intro has some graphical glitches but the real showstopper is that pressing Start on the title screen will only reload the developer/publisher intro.

🟨 Side Pocket 2: Game functions, however a number of important sprites are completely black on both the title screen and during gameplay - pool balls notably.

🟧 EMIT Vol. 2: Meigake no Tab: Game intro has some graphical glitches but the real showstopper is that pressing Start on the title screen will only reload the developer/publisher intro.

🟧 EMIT Vol. 3: Watashi ni Sayonara o: Game intro has some graphical glitches but the real showstopper is that pressing Start on the title screen will only reload the developer/publisher intro.

🟨 Virtual Hydlide: Game intro videos play and menus function, however gameplay is impossible, due to only being able to see background layers.

🟧 Kanzen Chūkei Pro Yakyū: Greatest Nine: Greatest Nine appears to be working wonderfully until you actually load into a stadium to play a game and then the graphics will freeze.

🟨 Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators: Game functions, however a number of important graphics (like the pinball table flippers) flicker non-stop, which is clearly not the correct behavior.

🟧 Yumimi Mix Remix: Unfortunately, after the Game Arts logo the emulator shows only a black screen, although music can be heard playing.

🟨 Race Drivin': This game will load and function, however the polygon rendering has issues and a number of polygon vertices will twitch out of position, leading to pretty constant strobing.

🟧 Sotsugyou II Neo Generation: I cannot get past a particular dialog window after pressing Start on the title screen. Since I do not read Japanese, I cannot speculate as to how to get past this and into gameplay.

🟧 Jissen Mahjong: This game has multiple issues. The FMV intro pre-title screen eventually freezes. If you skip the intro FMV, the title screen loads in a corrupted state and will not allow you to press Start.

🟨 T&E VR Golf Masters: Harukanaru Augusta 3: Much like Pebble Beach Golf Links above, only background layers are primarily visible, rendering the game unplayable even if you are able to swing your club.

πŸŸ₯ Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki Gokuraku CD-ROM for Sega Saturn: This is the first game in this list which loads absolutely nothing after the Sega license screen in Yaba Sanshiro 2 - 1.9.0.
