Character sprites flickering in Grandia during combat (Yabasanshiro 2, Android 11 on Retroid Pocket 3+)

On the flipside, the performance is massively improved in the combat sections compared to when I last tried it a few months ago. It ran pretty consistently around 40 - 45fps during combat iirc, now it seems to hover around 55 - 60fps.
