Display Orientation
ARCHOS 5
The Archos 5 Home screen defaults to landacape orientation and no mechanism is
provided to change it. Some applications have exited and returned to a home
screen which is very nicely in portrait orientation but it seems the system
notices and quickly returns it to landacape. Normally I hold portrait and see a
landscape Home. When an application is launched it appears in my physical
orientation: portrait. When I return to Home it is a landscape display.
SL4A
When using script shortcuts which run in a terminal the terminal and dialogs
display in the orientaiion I am holding (physical orientation). Good. But when
using script shortcuts which run in the background the dialogs display in the
home screen's landscape orientaiion even if I am holding portrait. Not good
because dialogs appear sideways when I am in portrait orientation.
SUGGESTION
Please incorporate some mechanism to allow dialogs to detect and use the
physical orientation instead of the displays orientation. If they must use the
same orientation as their background then perhaps have SL4A display a
transparent window under each dialog.
