I am also interested in this feature!
I've specifically registered to say that that addition would be the killer feature for this patch. If I knew more about Python, Blender, and Oculus I'd be trying to add it. As it is, it's really cool. Probably the easiest way at the moment to see our work in VR without any programming or relying on oddball model viewers.
As for the cursor, my guess is because you're working in 3D, a simple pointer isn't good enough. You probably have to shoot a ray from the screen's cursor position, and where ever that ray lands is where the selections and edits are made. Something like that's probably done already in Zbrush and Sculptris, where you see a circle following both the mouse and the surface it lands on (in Blender the circle just floats around the mouse itself, the circle in the other programs follows the surfaces).
If all I could reliably do is sculpt in VR, I'd be in nirvana. It's so simple to just move around the model, tilt your head, etc, than to constantly pan and rotate around the thing.
I wish this project would go forward. I'm currently actively modeling in Oculus Medium and then cleaning up in Blender. If I could do both in VR that would be a dream. There's a Maya VR plugin already out, fully featured too. But I prefer blender!
Check out the Maya Plugin I mentioned. It's so cool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZUUlGNMhHw&t=
Maya is prohibitively expensive for a home user sadly.
Any news in controller support?
VR viewport works great for viewing models, but there is no kind of cursor or manipulator controls visible in my VR view so I have to lift my headset off to make edits.
Watching videos of this plugin in action it looks like making selections and using manipulator controls is possible, is there something I need to do to enable them or is this feature not available yet?
