Bug: bad nicknames #29

Some nicknames are invalid (example some.thing - the dot). Need name checker before joining game. And it would be nice to be able to change nickname.

Could you be more specific why "some.thing" is bad? Does it break? Also, please file a separate feature request for changing names.
