Can "comments are disabled" be removed? #12

If comments are disabled for a post, right now the "Comments are disabled" text has two issues:

  1. It is a larger size than the text of the main post. (I think it should be the same.)
  2. It is slammed up against the left sidebar. (There should be some whitespace.)

However, I have a larger question - if comments are disabled on a post, why not just have no text saying that? Just simply not show any comment area at all. That would be my recommendation.

That was something the WordPress.org team made me add. I don't like that message either and that is why I added a section in the theme customizer to disable comments globally on posts and pages. If you disable globally, no message is displayed.

Still think I should tweak the CSS?

Hmmm... well, if it is required for the theme to be added to the WP.org repository, then yes, I guess the CSS would be tweaked. My suggestion would be to move it out to be in line with the other text and then make the text smaller and maybe italicized so that it isn't too glaring.

In a previous release I tweaked the CSS to make comments fit better with the page. I still think the global disable feature is the easiest way to meet WP.org requirements but make it easy for congregations to turn them off.
