Crustacean MS Access database migrations

Denis will be retiring in the coming years (<5). He is currently the steward of three MS access databases:

1. biocollectors
2. recriutement index
3. at-sea sampling database

• These are all lobster databases.
• The data is collected in partnership with MFU, PEIFA and Prov. of PEI.

At-sea Sampling

• on commercial fishing vessels
• collected by non-DFO technicians
• moving around different vessels (3x season the same vessel)
• measuring size, sex, eggs --> maybe similar to NS survey
• currently using paper - sometimes even voice recorders
• when they get back from field, they would do data entry into access db.
• at the end of the season, they returned the db to Denis and he would combine into the master access file

We need solutions on two fronts: 1) what will we do when Denis leaves? what will be provided to the non-DFO techs for data entry? Andes? 2) where will the home for these data be? DM Apps seems like a natural spot.
