I have a few ideas for various mechanics in the mod relating to beams and suits.
New Suits
Suits are hard to implement and to be honest the only method I can see is giving them niches.
Dark/Light Suit: Wave 50 Simulacrum or escape Planetarium - Makes damage from void fog unable to exceed a small percentage of max HP (i.e. 0.5%) when scaling or just removes it. As far as which suit to use, whichever looks better to be honest. This would make the suit rather niche but it would shine particularly well in the simulacrum. I don't think a passive damage reduction would be a good idea.
Gravity Suit: Mastery or Grand Mastery - Provides resistances to more elite types, Varia already reduces severity of heat and cold elites, so Grav could probably provide resistance to overloading or something on top of the Varia resistances (or it could just boost the existing resistances). For lack of water, Grav is kind of hard to implement otherwise. It could also have the very niche benefit of resisting the pull on Voidling's black hole or something. That would be neat.
New Beams
Beams might be a bit easier. Prime 1/2 figured it out with beam swapping.
Unlocking the beams for pre-game selection should occur when finding an elite essence for the first time (that is, make it an achievement, not a change on pickup).
Irfit's Distinction (Fire) unlocks Plasma for selection, which should behave like Prime 1 plasma. Slow-ish fire-rate, pierces enemies, lights them on fire when hit with a charge shot. It could also be like Prime 3 with unclamped firerate, but it would have to get rid of the piercing.
Her Biting Embrace (Ice) unlocks Ice for selection (duh), which should probably have a higher fire rate than it did in Prime 1. Slows enemies on hit, freezes when hit with a charge shot if the shot does more than some x% damage to the enemy (this way it's not an easy cheese on strong enemies). (If they don't already, missiles should probably do extra damage to ice enemies).
Silence Between Two Strikes (Overloading) could unlock Wave for selection, but this would have to behave like Prime 1's wave. It should probably use the missile lock code so that it follows targeted enemies, but otherwise goes in a straight line. Unlike missiles it should not start following enemies when it gets close if it was fired without tracking, it should just keep going straight. Charge shots stun.
Other Changes
The only peeve I have right now is that charge impacts lack an explosion. They did splash damage in the Prime series which helped with near-misses, and Charge feels kind of janky or inconsistent without it in a 3D environment. Some preset effect like the behemoth's explosion would work fine for it for both looks and mechanics.
I would make missile's lock distance much higher so that I can hit a specific enemy with a missile from a higher range
