homebridge-ring shows an In-Home Doorbell Switch for a Ring Elite, but not for a Ring Pro

Describe the Bug

I have two Ring Doorbells installed at my home. A Ring Pro and a Ring Elite. Both are hard-wired, and working fine. I set up Homebridge on a Raspberry Pi with the hopes of setting up different HomeKit automations when each doorbell is pressed. However, only the Ring Elite is presenting the "In-Home Doorbell Switch." The Ring Pro is not. Is this expected behavior? If not, how can I get the Ring Pro's In-Home Doorbell Switch to appear as well? All other aspects of this plug-in are working great for me. I just can't get the Ring Pro to show an In-Home Doorbell Switch like I can for the Ring Elite. Thanks for any guidance!

Expected behavior

I expected to see both the Ring Pro and Ring Elite show up as an In-Home Doorbell Switch. I am only seeing the Ring Elite.

The in-home doorbell shows up based on configuration of the cameras, and whether or not they have a physical doorbell set up in the Ring app. Do you have a mechanical/digital doorbell that is connected to the Ring Pro (this does not include any Ring Chimes)? If so, please follow the directions in https://github.com/dgreif/ring/wiki/Data-Discovery and post the results here so I can see what Ring is reporting for each camera.

Hi, thanks so much @dgreif. As far as equipment goes, I have one Ring Pro doorbell, one Ring Elite doorbell, and four Ring Floodlight cams. I am not using a mechanical/digital doorbell, but I do get audible chime alerts via an iPad in the kitchen. (There used to be a mechanical doorbell in this old house, but it was disconnected it when I installed the Rings.)

So I have no in-home doorbells installed anymore, I rely on iOS, tvOS, watchOS, macOS and Alexa devices for Ring alerts.

With your response though, I was able to figure at least some of the issue out. I went into the Device Settings for the Ring Pro and changed the Doorbell Chime Type from "None" to "Digital," even though no digital chime is connected. This is what differentiated the Elite, it was already set to "digital" and I hadn't realized it.

I then restarted homebridge. Now the "in-home doorbell switch" for the Ring Pro appears in homebridge and I see it's available for Homekit automations.

HOWEVER, the automations I've tried to set up in Apple's Home app, such as "when Front Door In-Home Doorbell turns on, turn on the TP-Link switch" (which has a lamp plugged into it) don't actually trigger. I've tried with both doorbells with the same disappointing result.

So does this mean that in order for me to have such automations trigger on doorbell press (and not merely motion) that I have to re-install a physical doorbell chime? And would that only apply to the Ring Pro with the physical wiring, or would it work with the Elite (which is connected by a PoE cable) as well?

Or is there another way for me to accomplish this?

I think you have misunderstood the in home doorbell switch. The purpose of that switch is to activate/deactivate a physical doorbell that goes off when your doorbell is pressed. Since you don't actually have an in home doorbell, you should set both of those settings in the Ring app to "none" and those switches will disappear in HomeKit. To do the automations you mentioned, there is actually a separate programmable switch that can be accessed by going into the settings for the camera and then the accessories section. There is a programmable switch in there with a single press event that you can trigger automations with.
