KRWG also reported some problems with their stream.

Another listener reported this as a problem on the Nexus One over 3G (works
fine in
wifi):
------------------
Hello - I was really excited to use this app to listen to npr, but the
streaming
radio function does not work on my Nexus One. I can stream radio over WiFi, but
it
fails to start on 3G. Other streaming apps can play these streams over 3G on my
phone, so it appears to be a bug specific to the NPR news app. Additionally,
this
inability to stream over 3G from the app applies to all stations, not just one.
Great
app otherwise - I hope this gets fixed soon so I can use this more often!
Thanks, JP

I have a N1 and I have gotten streaming radio over non-wifi connections so the
bug is
perhaps a bit more subtle.

Greetings,
KCSM-FM engineer here. I have a HTC Eris and cannot live stream any station
including
KCSM. Fellow engineer has the Motorola Droid and the app works perfectly.

I'm actually not seeing any of the streams currently in Droid 2.1. Can anyone
confirm
streams working well on a droid 2.0 vs a 2.1?

I get the -38,0 error on either wifi or 3g for WLRN in Miami. The other S.
Florida station, WXEL works great. I have a MOTO Droid.

Works great on Samsung Moment -- tested in both android 1.5 and 2.1 -- On that
note ...
The motorola Cliq MB200 (with android 1.5) I can confirm is having the same issue as the Nexus one. NPR app is coded to detect anything under android 2.2 and enable the proxy. I wonder if some phone manufacturers took it upon themselves to fix the http 1.0 bug..in android versions < 2.2. I've read that HTC and Motorola did a lot of modifications to the Android system.

Seemingly having the same issue on Droid2 with android 2.2. I am unable to get
the stream from WAMU or WETA. Get an error code of "received error:1,-1" or
"received error"-38,0"
Tried it on Wifi and 3G...same issues
BTW: I am able to listen to stuff in the play list, as well as stream WLTR and
WRJA

Hi Guys,
Running the NPR App on HTC Incredible with Android 2.2 and I am also seeing
some live stream issues.
I can start the WAMU stream, but it will frequently reset and reconnect, or
just lose connectivity all together.

Just updated to 2.2 on Droid X (stock - no rooting, etc). App was working
streaming WBUR Boston live stream before the OTA update yesterday, but now am
experiencing the same lack of sound and error codes described in this bug
report. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling just to see if it helped - didn't.
Other podcasts, playlist item, etc seem to be fine.

Same issues with KCRW, and WAMU on a DroidX Stock. It's too bad. The app is
useless until this is fixed.

I can't speak so much for the older devices, but for the Droid X 2.2 OTA, this
is a known issue. We've a patch coming out soon to improve streaming that will
hopefully help, but we can't guarantee that it will work on the Droid X. We
here at NPR have reached out to contacts at Motorola, but haven't received a
solution yet.
Check out Motorola's forum for more info of just Google "motorola 2.2 bugs"

Is anyone still having these issues on these specific devices? If not, I will
merge it into the larger streaming thread.

Closing as these devices represent a small slice of our user base. Improving
streaming system in general will help address.

Can't get main live streams for WAMU on Virgin Mobile/Samsung Intercept w/
Android 2.2. Previous programs work fine, and "WAMU's 24-Hour Bluegrass
Stream" works intermittently (plays a few seconds at a time). Is this an
oversubscription issue? Selecting the main live stream ("WAMU 88.5 (HD
88.5-1)")appears to load for a moment, then indicates "no stories to play".
For a first experience with the app, I'm not terribly pleased.
