ISO File Support #188

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to load an ISO file (not a Bin/Cue) in Bizhawk.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Bizhawk will not load the ISO file. Instead Bizhawk asks what file inside the
archive you want to load. A Cue/ISO appears to work.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r6826

Please provide any additional information below.
This also effects PC Engine and Sega CD loading.

Cannot reproduce. I try to load an iso file in Saturn, and it works and runs.
More details are needed.

ISO files do work now but if they are loaded with out a Cue file, you will not
get any music. I tested this with Ecco the Dolphin for Sega CD. If I load the
Cue (which has the track list) I get music and no problems. If I load the ISO
file only, no music plays but the game plays.

This is normal and correct. An ISO file does not describe a CD; it describes
one data track. When you load an ISO, Bizhawk makes an assumed CUE with that
single datatrack. Only the real CUE with accompanying ISO and\or BIN and\or
WAV can fully describe the entire disk.

If another emulator loads an ISO in Sega CD and plays working CD music, it's
because it's assuming a TOC layout from an internal database and then guessing
names of the audio track files. We don't want to do this hackery.
