Slack Notification Integration (or other messaging platform)

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. As of now, you would have to create custom SDK metrics when you want to create some specific notifications.

Describe the solution you'd like It would be great if there is a Slack menu in temporal web ui, allowing us to integrate with Slack and make custom messages (without having to implement on our own with SDK). ex) Workflow "HelloWorldWorkflow" just failed with an error: connection time out

Describe alternatives you've considered Or at least export flexible prometheus metrics with WorkflowID, WorkflowType...

Thanks for the feature request! This is a great idea that could be very useful for users.

While we don't have a built-in Slack integration in Temporal UI at the moment, there are some workarounds you could use:

• Export Metrics: As you suggested, exporting flexible Prometheus metrics with WorkflowID, WorkflowType, etc., can be a good option. You can then set up Grafana dashboards to visualize these metrics and potentially trigger Slack notifications based on specific events. This approach gives you more control over the data and notifications.
• SDK Integration: You can use the Temporal SDKs to implement your own Slack integration. This allows you to customize the messages and notifications you send to Slack. The Prometheus Grafana setup guide details how to set up Prometheus and Grafana dashboards.

We will consider adding a Slack integration to Temporal UI in future releases. We appreciate your feedback!
